DESCRIPTION OF THE IDEA
The aim of the project is to bring the international public into contact with the region, rural life, the Mediterranean diet, agricultural cultivation and, more specifically, olive production. The means for this acquaintance is the most famous fruit tree, the olive tree, a true gift of nature, which is directly linked to culture and offers all its products, by-products and residues to man.

The quality and value of the products is certified by the Kapodistrian University of Athens, the University of Patras, the University of Ioannina, Harvard University and Yale University.

The areas selected are known worldwide for the olive oil they produce, but also as tourist destinations due to their natural beauty.

• Agritourism is a form of gentle tourism, in which visitors stay on farms and participate in agricultural work. A key point of a holiday on a farm-guesthouse is the visitor's direct contact with rural life, crops, nature, flora and fauna, something special for the majority of modern European citizens living in urban areas. In addition to welcoming and hosting the visitor in a simple environment with local character and all the necessary amenities, his active participation in various activities is also provided. Indicatively:
  agricultural activities (participation in work), observation of the ecosystem (e.g. birds, fauna, flora, visits to wetlands, etc.), adventure sports (e.g. hiking, etc.), cultural tours (e.g. visits to monasteries, churches, folklore museums, traditional settlements, archaeological sites, etc.), lessons (e.g. Greek dances, gastronomy, Greek cuisine, tasting, wine tasting, acquaintance with local products, etc.)
• A key feature of this form of tourism in developed agrotourism countries (Spain, Germany, France) is accommodation on farms in the countryside. This, however, is not the case to the same extent in Greece, even though our country has a large capital to exploit (popular and cultural wealth, geophysical elements, etc.). With appropriate adaptations to the data of the Greek landscape, Greek agritourism can find itself in a competitive position, thus contributing to the protection of the natural environment and cultural heritage, while boosting the income of residents in the destination areas.

One of the olive trees of olive producer Eleni Zotou from Kalyves, Halkidiki, who represents the agricultural business Golden Tree Bio Organic Products Olive Oil, will become your own tree.
From this will come the olive oil that you will receive at the end of the year. If you love olive oil, if it accompanies your dishes daily, all you have to do is get in touch with our company and request as much extra virgin olive oil as you wish, your own oil of the year.
All the olive oil of the Golden Tree company is a distillate of nature, in its purest form. No human hand intervenes, except for watering and harvesting. Completely organic, our olive oil has a high nutritional value, certified by universities after extensive chemical analyses.
The crushing of the olives in organically certified oil mills, at an appropriate water temperature, so as not to alter the value of the product produced and the process in all phases, from production to standardization, ensure the health of the consumer (ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 quality certificates and HACCP health certificates).

In the Odyssey we also encounter olive oil as a means of beautification, with Telemachus washing himself with water and then anointing himself with olive oil.
Recognizing the value of olive oil, the Romans contributed to the spread of olive cultivation in their empire. References to the olive are found in the Bible and the Quran, while after the Renaissance the olive spread to the New World.
Ancient Greek healers used olive oil to heal wounds and treat insomnia, nausea, andcholera. They also used it to moisturize and soften their skin or put it on their hair, to make it healthy and shiny. Modern scientists believe that it enhances the function of the brain and our internal organs, especially the heart, unlike harmful animal fats, which are responsible for the accumulation of fat in the heart and lead to heart attacks.
